Puredistance Antonia – El hada verde

A decir verdad, Antonia no tiene nada que ver con el ajenjo ni con ninguna otra bebida espirituosa. Es que resulta tan onírica en su etéreo verdor  que logra evocar hadas danzantes, salidas directamente de  Sueño de una Noche de Verano.

Clásico aunque increíblemente moderno, Antonia es la gema más brillante en la colección Puredistance. Más que eso: es una de las fragancias más exquisitamente logradas que he olido jamás. El perfume fue lanzado en 2010, si bien Annie Buzantian trabajó basándose en una fórmula que había creado varios años antes.

Antonia no es un chipre -es un floral verde- pero actúa como uno; con el mismo espíritu y determinación. Es elegante, mas de manera fluida: fresco y sedoso; pleno y ligero. Muestra una cierta semajanza con el Chamade original, pero desprovisto de la sobredosis de polen y de una opacidad general.  Su belleza rivaliza con la del clásico de Guerlain, pero es mucho más ligero y depurado. La transparencia de Antonia no va en detrimento de su sustancia.

Este perfume abre con un estallido verde de hiedra y gálbano. Un bouquet de rosas y jacinto asoma tímidamente desde abajo pero nunca toma protagonismo. La base  avainillada brinda un dulce y cálido  almohadón sobre el que descansa el verdor. Es la sorpresa de esta calidez  lo que presta el toque magistral.

Puredistance Antonia – The green fairy

To tell the truth, Antonia has nothing to do with absinthe or any high proof spirits. It is just so oniric in its ethereal greenness that it manages to evoke dancing fairies, straight from A Midsummer’s Night Dream.

Classic yet incredibly modern, Antonia is the brightest gem in the Puredistance collection. More than that: it is one of the most exquisitely crafted fragrances I have ever smelled. The parfum was launched in 2010 even though Annie Buzantian worked around a formula she had created several years earlier.

Antonia is not a chypre  -it is a green floral- but behaves like one; with the same spirit and determination. It is elegant but effortlessly so: crisp and silky at a time; full yet light. It bears some resemblance to the original Chamade, but devoid of the pollen overdose and an overall opacity.  Its beauty rivals that of the Guerlain classic, but it is much more weightless and streamlined. Antonia‘s transparence doesn’t deter from its substantiality.

This perfume opens with a green blast of galbanum and ivy. A bouquet of roses and hyacinth coyly surfaces from underneath but never takes protagonism. The  vanillic base provides a sweet warm cushion for the greenness to rest on. This surprising warmth is what lends the masterful touch.
